Mood: euphoric Song stuck in head today: I Still... by Backstreet Boys
So the end of orientation has finally arrived. Well, actually the last day of our 4-day-long Orientation Week at Anglo-Chinese Junior College was on Friday which ended with the exhilarating and totally crazy Mass Dance. I seriously did not want it to end because then it'll mean school would really really be starting. So here's a quick run-through:
Tuesday: We started off with a Discipline Talk. Yes, you read right. A Discipline Talk. Well I guess it's to set the record straight over what's acceptable and whatnot at ACJC. Then the main storyline of the Orientation Week started off with the four Lossehalins making their grand entrances to a Council Meeting on stage, each one boasting of their superior power to end the pollution to imagination and stories and ultimately save The World. My Lossehalin was Kyofu and my OG was Birkettsville. You know the house in the Blair Witch movie. Kyofu's theme was horror while the other Lossehalins - Cairnsir, Glorfindel and Celahir - was science fiction, mystery/thriller and fantasy respectively. My OGLs were Joshua, Amanda and Daniel who I must say are the absolute best!!!! We then went on to ice breakers and games. We also had to learn two dances which we would all dance on the last day. Oh and there's only one muslim stall!!! WTF???!!! I'm soooo going to get bored of the food!! Ended the day with Mass Rally during which all the four Lossehalins got together and went into a cheerfest, each group trying to outdo each other.
Wednesday: Second day of orientation. Again, we started off with talks. The logic behind this is, according to them, we should listen to talks first thing in the morning because towards the end of the day we would get tired and sleepy and wouldn't want to listen. I find this extremely whacked because early in the morning we are all very very tired and most of the cohort are still trying to get over the initial shock of having to wake up at such an unearthly hour it should be illegal. So obviously there were lots of lowered heads, heads resting on others' shoulders, heads back and eyes closed. DUH. We went into games again and this time it was damn wet and dirty. Yup, water bombs galore! Ended again with Mass Rally and got home DEAD TIRED.
Thursday: I'm really sorry but I can't really remember much from this day except for the fact that we went for dinner as an OG to Burger King. Yeah that was fun because I think we kind of bonded as a group.
Friday: The heart-wrenching reality hits. Its the final day of orientation. *sniff* The first highlight of the day was OG time which lasted for 4 hours. We Birkies crashed Sonia's house. She lives about 10 minutes from school in a really huge house and a pool! Played water polo, watched Blade Trinity, munched on chips. I had a really really great time because I really got to know my OG mates as friends and not as people I was stuck with the whole week. We ended up going to school reeeeal late. About 40 mins late bu thankfully the campfire hadnt started yet. *phew* However 10 mins after the lighting of the fire, it started to rain!! We hurried towards the badminton hall where we had our "imaginary campfire" and campfire songs, and finally MASS DANCE!! We danced the night away and didn't stop til like 11.45pm! I had to hitch a ride with Shagun to Katong and then took a cab from there. Got home after midnite and was really tired.
So here I am, two days after orientation. School starts tomorrow during which we have a whole week of intro lectures. Wow! Super fun!
