OMG it has been exactly one week since I last blogged and I am so sorry for not updating. I've been really busy all week and yesterday was the first day in two weeks I could go home early and guess how I spent it? yup, you got it. I spent the whole afternoon sleeping. Woke up around 9pm. Did the forums board for Social Studies and History and listened to American Idol on tv. lol for a beginner I think the board turned out ok. All i have to do is add brammi and raidah in as administrators/moderators. Ok I gues I should give a quick update on the past week.
Tuesday 25/01/05 We finally had the finals for drama club auditions for shortlisted Sec 1s and Sec 2s. It didn't turn out too bad. Although some performances were disappointing. And instead of taking in 3 Sec 2s, Mrs Lopez ended up taking all 5 of the shortlisted Sec 2s. Oh well... After that we had the first casting session for SYF. We saw the script for the first time and I have to say that it is not that good a script. It's about these 8 characters and their views on marriage and what makes life complete and if there is ever a perfect partner. During the session, I was reading for Anna and people liked it. At the end of it, even Alemay said that she was considering Lubna and me for the role... And Dharshini practically had the role of Elizabeth. According to Alemay: I don't think anyone else can fit the role" or something like that. Nadia was also another shoo-in for the lead role of Tracey. Even though it wasn't cast in stone we all had our hopes up...
Wednesday 26/01/05 It's the final casting session. I knew I was in trouble because I didn't really read it through carefully and understand my character properly. And somehow I knew it was going to cost me. I read for Anna and it seemed like Alemay and Mrs Lopez liked it but guess what happened next? Sharon, the scriptwriter, came in halfway through the session and basically screwed things. No one really liked her and the way she did things during the casting session and at the end of it people ended up getting the roles they didn't want. I obviously did not get Anna and I don't know why. Dharshini didn't get Elizabeth and I know she really wanted that role. And NADIA DIDN'T GET TRACEY!!! Now that is totally wrong. She lost the role to Elia. Don't get me wrong, I think Elia is a fabulous actress but come on.. she wanted the role of Nicole. Nadia really really really deserves Tracey. Elia didn't even read for Tracey on Tuesday. But on Wednesday, Sharon asked Elia to read for Tracey and that pretty much ended it for Nadia. So now Nadia's Nicole. And Nadia is so totally NOT Nicole. Everyone was upset after that. There was a crying fest after but I couldn't join it because I had to go to Centrepoint and meet mummy, papa and nurul for dinner. But I definitely was upset. I mean, I couldn't even get this simple role by reading a stupid script. How the hell am I supposed to go to NYU on a scholarship when 70% of your entrance into the theater school is made up of auditions??!!! Im feel like I've failed. And it was the first time I cried over being disappointed in like a long time.
Thursday 27/01/05 Everyone was talking about Sharon and the unfairness and unbelievability of it all. I decided to just forget about it and try and go for either stage manager or assistant director. Even though I put lighting crew as my alternate choice, I decided I wanted to try something different and more challenging. Besides it will be good experience rather than learn to pull a few switches. So wish me luck!
Today I stayed after school to work on class decor for Chinese New Year. I felt so exhasuted after that. In fact I still am.. lol. But the chicks look soooooooo cute!!! Good work guys! Hopefully we can win this thing!
